Egeus comes to the king Theseus and his fiancée Hippolyta because his daughter Hermia is not obeying his command to marry Demetrius. Instead, she is in love with Lysander. If she doesn't obey her fathers cammand, Egeus says she will either be killed or become a nun.
"Hermia, your father should be as a god to you."

"I wish to marry Lysander, not Demetrius.
"My daughter will not obey my wishes, my Lord."

Lysander
I shall tell Demetrius where they are going.

"I will not fail you, my Lysander."
"Meet me in the forest tomorrow night, we will flee Athens Together.
Lysander and Hermia plan to escape Athens through the forest at midnight. Hermia's friend Helena overhears this plan, and plots on telling Demetrius to get him to notice her.

In the village, Quince gathers a group of craftsmen to put on a play for Duke Theseus' wedding. He assigns roles and tries to keep everyone on task.
I will undertake it. What beard were I best to play in."
"Nick Bottom, you shall play Pyramus."
