- This place is amazing and perfect for the U.S.

- This place is not good for the US we need somewhere to grow our crops.
- In 1803 Thomas Jefferson wanted to expand the United states. Thomas Jefferson knew that Great Britain and France were in war and needed money so he bought land from Great Britain that did cost $15 million dollars. Now the USA has a lot more land.
- Stephen Long
- This Place is gonna be called the Great Desert .
- In 1804 Lewis and Clark went to the new land they bought from Great Britain. They went to go explore the new land to see if they could move people out there. Lewis and Clark saw greenery everywhere and deers and birds. They told Thomas Jefferson it would be a great place to move out to.
- Jackson's Speech
- We have no need for this new land. We should move the Indians out there to make more room.
- Later in 1806 Zebulon Pike also traveled to the new land. He told Jackson that the land was not useful to them because it was a desert. And they should not move down there because They could not grow crops down there and then would not be able to survive.
- Indian Removal Act
- You guys need to leave now and go East with all the other Native Americans.
- Later in 1819 Stephen Long also went to explore the land. He was the only one who traveled steamboat to the land. He also viewed the land as a desert like Zebulon Pike did. And decided to name the land d the land the Great Desert.
- In 1829 Jackson's Speech to the people was about how the "savages" or Indians are taking up land that the United States could use to grow and make more cities. And how that the new land they had was not good for farming. So they forced the Indians East to relocate Kansas and other locations.
- Finally later in 1830 the Indian Removal Act began. All the Indian tribes were forced to move East to relocate in Kansas and other locations. This raised tension between a lot of tribes. And many other tribes found the conditions very unusual or difficult to adapt to.
