- In 8th grade
- Winter break is around the corner, followed by the soccer season in spring. The last time I played in a soccer game was in 6th grade. The upper graders were far more skilled, so I didn’t have to fill a major role on the team. Two years later, I’m the upper grader.

- What if I miss the ball?
- What if they are better?
- What if I forget how to dribble?
- What if I trip?
- The day before our game we were taking practice lightly, warming up our muscles, and stretching out our bodies for the long game ahead. The next 24 hours go by slow and at game time everyone is pumped up for the game, determined to defend our turf.

- For the first half we were chasing after the ball, up and down the dry, patchy grass. Mr. Martinez would be coaching us down the sideline, critiquing our mistakes to improve upon them. By the second half we were physically drained.
- Conclusion
- Ehh I'm alright

- The thought of not having him, (Coach Martinez), there coaching on the sidelines was frightening, it felt as if I was standing over a cliff looking down and not being able to see the bottom.
- Deflected right back at my feet, where I took two attempts: one a shot right into the goalie, and the second tapped in to the back of the net. Everyone on the sidelines are out of their seats cheering, as my teammates are congratulating me for my accomplishment.
- GOOD JOB BULLDOGS!!!
- Far away from the moment, I had zero faith in myself when I headed into the soccer season. I had no idea I was going to be able to fill in the role given to me, my skills were not nearly as developed as all the experienced players. I finally saw the decent soccer player that I turned out to be today.
