- Her master Mr. Dumont, promised to free her a year before she was legally free by law, if she did good work. When he went back on his promise, Sojourner decided to run away with one of her children.

- When Truth's son was illegally sold, she immediately went headed out to find him. She met with two lawyers to get her son back, which she did. She later saw how her son's body was injugerd, most likely from his masters.

- Once emancipated by the state, Sojourner Truth went on to become a preacher, abolitionist, and public speaker who argued for women's rights. Throughout her life she meets other famous figures, like Frederick Douglass, and Abraham Lincoln.
- Sojourner Truth later dictates her story and gets the "Narrative of Sojourner Truth" published. She also delivers the speech, "Ain't I a woman".
