- Nuclear Family
- A nuclear family is where the family includes 2 parents of the opposite gender and their kids are living in the same house
- Breadwinner Family
- The father is the income earner and the mother takes care if the children duties, but the roles are changing
- Dual-Income Family
- Both parents are employed. Currently the most common type of breadwinner family, but it used to be the breadwinner family.
- Same Sex Family
- A family that includes parents of the same sex and their adoptive or biological child lives in the same residence
- Single Parent Family
- A family with one parent raising one or more children on his or her own
- Blended Family
- A blended family is a family with children from this and all previous relationships. This is often referred to as the "Stepfamily" because its when 2 separate families merge into one.
