- Bob worked as a tech consultant. He learned about a regressive tax, where people with less money end up paying a higher percentage of their income in taxes than the wealthy. Bob was upset when he saw how much more he paid compared to Charlie, who made a lot more money. “That’s not fair!” Bob said. “It’s harder for people with less money to pay.”

- Charlie was the wealthiest of the three, owning several stores. He heard about a flat tax, where everyone pays the same percentage of their income in taxes. At first, it seemed simple and fair, but after talking to Bob, Charlie realized it wasn’t perfect. “If we all pay the same percentage, I’ll pay more, but it might still not be the best for people who earn less,” he said.
