- “Because in that sleep of death, who knows what kind of dreams might come when we’ve left this life behind? That fear is what makes us stop and think—it’s why we put up with so much suffering.”

- “After all, who would choose to endure life’s beatings and insults, the abuse from powerful people, the arrogance of the proud, the pain of unreturned love, the delay of justice, the rudeness of officials, and the mistreatment of good people when he could simply end it all with a single stab of a knife?”
