The food then goes down the oesophagus to the stomach.
Then the food is broken down in the stomach into small pieces. The stomach contains hydrochloric acid which is very corrosive.
In the small intestine the important minerals and nutrients are absorbed into the blood.
In the large intestine, water is absorbed into the blood and waste is taken out through the anus.
