- Natural selection is a process of evolution where living things with beneficial traits survive and can reproduce. Over time, these traits become more common in the group and further generations.

- A population of rabbits lives in a forest where it is mostly covered with soil, leaves, and trees. Some rabbits have brown fur, while others have white fur. The difference in colour is called inherited variation.

- The white rabbits are easier to see in the forest, so foxes hunt them. Brown rabbits can camouflage, so they are more likely to escape them.
