- Tensions high in Vietnam, recently being split because of two government ideologies, trying to control the country. Either being communism or capitalism. Now causing an all-out proxy war between two sides in the country. One side being aided by the USSR and the other by the United States.
- John F. Kennedy, the president of the U.S in 1960, not long after winning the election, the government and him start aiding South Vietnam more, seeing communism as a threat. Then predicting a domino effect that if Vietnam becomes communist other Asian countries will as well.
- If Vietnam falls to communism, our country will be at risk of that ideology that we heavily dislike
- The North Vietnamese slowly getting more and more sick, starting to question if he can still run the communist party.
- North Vietnamese first leader, Ho Chi Minh, now fallen ill, Le duan, the general secretary now headed as the new leader of the communist party, continuing the war against the South
- With the U.S. trying to lower rebellion troop's morale, and their food supplies to make them weak. They launched an operation called, Ranch Hand, where U.S. aircrafts sprayed Agent Orange (a herbicide and defoliant chemical) over rural areas of South Vietnam to kill vegetations that would cover and aid guerrilla forces.
- After the South Vietnam Leader, Ngo Dinh Diem, survives a bombing in the presidential palace, he would also end up losing support from majority of the South Vietnamese because of his support towards the Catholic minority rather Buddhism the most followed religion in the country
