- Hashem forgives Bnei Yisroel but says that they will still be punished. Hashem says that Bnei Yisroel should turn back to the Midbar because they will not be entering the Midbar for a while. Hashem also says that Calev 1) היתה רוח אחרת עמו and he will be entering the land

- The Punishment: Men ages 20-60 will not enter the land but will die after 40 years. The women and children will be wondering in the desert for 40 years before they enter the land. Hashem explains that the reason it is 40 days is because of 2)יום לשנה, a day for a year.

- Moshe tells Bnei Yisroel their punishment 4)ויתאבלו העם מאוד- the nation is in mourning
- A small group of Bnei Yisroel decide to get up in the morning and go over the mountain that is separating them and Israel. Moshe warns them not to go but they don't listen. When they make it over, Amalek attacks them and they die.
