- I thought he is not successful. For his only caring about material wealth and profit. He can’t have deep emotional connection with others. He was also immersed in his American Dream
- Vanity: He showed vanity and cheating himself. He always tried to show off his position and success to make others impressed. “I’m gonna get married, Mom. I wanted to tell you.”( Miller,48)
- The eagerness to physically material wealth: He did believe the success was getting higher position and earning a lot of money and thought the hard working must achieve the financial success. “All I can do now is wait for the merchandise manager to die. And suppose I get to be merchandise manager?”(Miller,13)
- The use of others: His relationships with other showed the use and objectify to others especially the women. He emphasized the wealth others brought but ignored the emotional and some deeper meaning of the communications. “ I don’t know what gets into me, maybe I just have an overdeveloped sense of competition or something, but I went and ruined her.”(Miller,15)
