- In the beginning of the story, Montag is on his way home from work when he stumbles upon a young woman. This woman's name was Clarisse Mcclellan. She was extremely curious and was always interested in meeting a new friend.
- Montag arrives on a call but this one was different from the rest. The woman was still on scene, refusing to leave her books. Montag tries his best to make her leave, but she ends up striking a match. Her house went up in flames and so did she.
- Beatty discovers that Montag has been keeping books. While at the fire station, they recieve an emergency call and have to quickly leave. Beatty drives the truck and they end up at Montag's own house. Montag's first punishment was to use a flamethrower and burn his house down slowly. He was furious at Beatty and decided to light him on fire using the flamethrower.
- After Montag lights Beatty on fire, he panicked and ran. He wasn't exactly sure where to go but he ended up at Faber's house. Faber was the only person he knew he could turn to. The both of them come up with a plan to meet at St. Louis sometime in the future.
- Montag arrives at the camp and gets welcomed by Granger. Granger was very helpful towards Montag. He helps remove Montag's scent by giving him a clear liquid.
- The story ends off with the whole city being completely destroyed. Montag and his friends from the camp decide to leave the camp and head north. Montag finally can look forward to a fresh start where he can actually be happy.
