- Macbeth and Banquo discover three strange sisters who tell macbeth he will be promoted to Thane of Cawdor and the King of Scotland. However Banquo isn't promised and kingdom but his descendants will be kings.
- Then, King Duncan names Macbeth Thane of Cawdor for his recent success in battles.
- Macbeth's wife vows to help him become king by any means necessary after hearing about his new title.
- The Macbeths plan and carry out a murder on King Duncan so Macbeth can be promoted to king.
- Macbeth feels insecure about how he became king and seeks out the three sisters. They say Macbeth will be safe until Birnam Wood marches into battle against him and to not fear anyone born of woman.
- Birnam Wood is moving towards him and malcolbs army is carrying branches for their assault on Macbeth.
