- Women had few rights in the Progressive Era. They had unequal pay and they lacked the right to vote.

- President Theodore Roosevelt was Instrumental in using muckraking to push public safety bills.
- Investigative journalism gave rise to muckrakers. The muckrakers were set on exposing the corruption in government and business. At the heart of muckraking was this corruption.
