- Now, we are in 1000 CE, and we will learn about Avicenna's The Canon of Medicine in the Islamic Empire.
- When I wrote The Canon of Medicine, I combined ideas from Greece, India, and Muslim medicine and put those ideas in one book. It became a very important text for medicine, which spread as scholars translated it.

- This is Edward Jenner, in England on 1796, here to tell us about how he used cowpox to protect against smallpox.
- I noticed that milkmaids who had gotten cowpox didn't get smallpox, so I decided to test this idea on a boy named James Phipps. Sure enough, he was immune. I shared this information by publishing an essay summarizing these discoveries.

- I'm William Harvey, and I discovered how the heart works, and how blood circulates around the body, using Avicenna's previous knowledge of the heart.
- With the Renaissance came many different discoveries for medicine.
- I'm Leonardo Da Vinci. I made discoveries in anatomy, studying muscles, bones, and tendons. I also studied how the body moves with bones and muscles.
