- 2. I don't know, man. I heard their houses only look good on the outside, but inside, they're no different from a shack. Better to starve for a bit than to die eating rat-infested food.
- 1. Bet 'em peasants are out in the field. Let's break into one of their houses. Besides, our rations are never enough to feed ourselves, let alone our families.
- Alaric turned them down with an excuse.
- In this scenario, our main character, Alaric, is being asked to rob a house for food.

- 2. Can't, sir, I'm in a hurry!
- 1. Hey, little man, you see these skeletons?Just join the XXX... maybe you won't end up like them.
- Alaric refused by walking away.
- As Alaric made his way home from guard duty, he was confronted by a man who requested that he join a gang-like organization.

- Shortly after arriving home, Alaric's cousin, Richard, asked him to drink some beer.
- 1. Ever tried beer before? Want a sip?
- 2. I've told you 'no' multiple times. I thought your folks taught you better than to drink underage.
- Throughout the day, without realizing it, Alaric successfully resisted peers pressure three times to engage in negative risky behaviors. First of all, he made up an excuse when his fellow knight asked him to rob a house. Secondly, he walked away from someone urging him to join a dangerous group. Lastly he repeated his refusal when he was asked to drink alcohol. Alaric used three refusal strategies: make an excuse, walk away, repeat the refusal. Three other strategies are say no, change the subject and tell why not.
