- The Ionian Revolt was the start of the Persian War, Persia invaded Ionia, and the Ionian Greeks didn't know what to do. Later, the Athenians showed up and helped the Ionians revolt against Persia, sadly though they did not win this battle and Persia took over Ionia which is now modern day Turkey.
- Salamis
- WE NEED TO GET AWAY FROM THE PERSIANS
- After the Ionian revolt, Darius the Great, the ruler of Persia, vowed to end Athens because of how they helped Ionia. So, he sends 25,000 men to go to Athens and fight. When Athenians get wind of this they go to a stretch of land that meets the sea, called the Marathon, and wait for the Persians to show up. In the end, the Athenians, even though they were severely outnumbered, win the battle because of their phalanx and the Persians wore lighter armor that was easy to cut through.
- The battle of Thermopylae was the first battle the Spartans helped with, Spartans and Athenians fought off Persian troops for 3 days, until a traitor told the Persians of a passage through the mountain, then the whole plan changed, and as 300 Spartans were holding off the Persians (the Spartans would later die) the rest of Athens ran off to safety on the island Salamis..which leads us to our next slide.

- The Battle at Salamis was when the Athenians were fleeing the Persians because they had gotten through the Spartans and were on their way to destroy Athens. They took their boats and went to Salamis straight where their boats could freely move, when the Persians followed them on their own boats they found their boats were too big to move, the Greeks strategically used their smaller boats to destroy some of the Persian boats and won the fight of Salamis.
