- Denial
- Denial is s defense mechanism where one refuses to accept the reality of their situation. They may ignore the truth or say the problem is not as bad as it seems, or that it wont affect them because it's easier to ignore it than face reality. A student may deny they have a big test coming up because they don't want to acknowledge it.
- Did you study last night? You know how hard our teacher makes the tests.
- There's not even a test today, it's next week!
- No, it's definitely today...

- Projection
- Projection is a defense mechanism where someone will deny what they feel and place the feelings on someone else. They will think the emotions come from another party rather than themselves. That student may tell their friend that the friend is the one worried about the test while in reality, they're the one panicking about it more.
- You seem more stressed about it, honestly!
- But I always do well in this class..?
