  • . Frankenstein feels guilty for the death of his younger brother William and Justine. We know this because he says "William and Justine died; they rest; and I am alive. The blood flows freely in my veins, but a weight presses on me, for I have committed mischief, horrible beyond description.... guilt hurries me to hell" (Stanford 31). He is telling us how guilty he feels for the death of William and Justine and how the weight of the guilt presses on him.
  • . Frankenstein shows ambition as he says "But imagine, Elizabeth! Imagine! If I could banish disease and death from the human frame. What discovery! What glory"(Stanford 16). This quote shows frankensteins's desire for scientific mastery and pursuit of glory. This desire to banish disease and death and desire for recognition in order to leave a lasting legacy are significant aspects of his ambition.
