- Whitney and Rainsford were talking about an Island named 'Ship-Trip Island.' They were planning on going hunting there. The Island is barely noticable, all they see is darkness. They wouldn't arrive at the Island until a few days.
- Climax
- An abrupt sound startled Rainsford, he heard it again and again. Someone fired a gun three times. Rainsford went to the railing trying to investigate where the gun shot came from, but it was too dark. He balanced himself on the railing to get a better look. His pipe was knocked from his mouth causing him to reach for it. Rainsford reached too far causing him to lose his balance and falls overboard.
- Falling Action
- After Rainsford finished swimming and reached the shore, he spotted lights. He walked towards it to get a better view and seen the lights leading towards a big house. He started to get curious as to who was living on the Island, so he started investigating. Rainsford walked past the gate and decided to knock on the door.
- Resolution
- While Rainsford is being chased by General Zaroff and his pack, he decided to climb a tree and hide there, waiting until the morning. He flattened himself down on the limb of the tree, and through a screen of leaves, he watched. General Zaroff stood beneath Rainsford and smiled. Rainsford knew something was wrong.
- Rainsford had a decision to either stay where he's at or run away from the swamp. He decided to run from it and run towards the sea. Rainsford jumps off the cliff hoping he'll make it. After landing, he swims back towards Chateau, towards General Zaroff's house.
- Rainsford arrived at General Zaroff’s house and hid in his bedroom. Generall Zaroff was shocked to see Rainsford alive. Rainsford ended up killing General Zaroff and sleep in his bed.
