They fever 1793 Colby Sites

Fever 1793 is about an epidemic in which a girl survived through bad sickness. My favorite part of the story is when Grandfather died. Mattie and Grandfather had just returned from Bush HIll. Mattie decided to sleep downstairs because it was cooler. While she was sleeping, she heard a noise that she thought was a rat. Then she saw two shadows and realized they were robbers. They came in through the window and Mattie tried to stay still. The robber started swinging Grandfather’s sword around and it made Mattie scream. She tried to run but they caught her. Grandfather woke up and came downstairs. He had a rifle and tried to shoot the robbers. He was too weak and fell after he shot the gun. The robber beat Grandfather up. Mattie stabbed him in the shoulder with Grandfather’s sword and chased him away. Mattie came back and Grandfather died. This scene is important because Mattie is now all alone.
