  • الانزلاق: 1
  • Although Nwoye desires to follow his father's masculine ways, he is compelled by the violence and anger that comes with it, leading to several beating by Okonkwo. This exhibits the contrast and external conflict between them, as Nwoye is more sensitive and gentle compared to his father.
  • الانزلاق: 2
  • After the arrival of Ikemefuna, Nwoye became different than he usually was. He was considerably more grown up and masculine while actively participating in male activities. The influence of Ikemefuna drastically changed Nwoye because he considered Ikemefuna as a positive role model since he held masculine characteristics that their father admired.
  • الانزلاق: 3
  • The death of Ikemefuna left Nwoye a deep scar in his heart. Nwoye viwed Ikemefuna as a brother figure and his sudden, violent death deeply traumatized him, leaving him in grief and depression. Not only that, he began to distance himself from his father because not only his father lied to him; he also killed his son with no hesitation. Again, this creates another external conflict between them, demonstrating the lack of compassion they have for each other.
  • الانزلاق: 4
  • Ikemefuna's death acts as a catalyst for Nwoye's internal conflict, pushing him towards a more compassionate and empathetic person. He does this because the harsh traditions and the masculine values led to the death of his brother, causing him to separate himself from them. This scenario is quite similar to how Okonkwo denied the values of his father since Ikemefuna is also denying the values of Okonkwo.
