Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, came upon a raft of treasure tin 1528 CE hat led him to believe it was a clue to another civilization.
Atahualpa's Ransom & Death
Waskar and Atahualpa battled in a six year civil war. Atahualpa was victorious, but soon disease would wipe out nearly 65-90% of the population.
The Fall of Cuzco
After meeting, both Atahualpa and Pizarro wanted to kill the other party. In an ensuing battle, the Incas's weapons were no match for Pizarro and his men's firearms.
Pizarro promised the leader's return if a room 20 by 50 feet was filled with gold. The Incas completed the task, but Pizarro executed Atahualpa anyway.
