"That's strange could the sunlight have dazzled me?
"There isn't any sunlight!
Maximilien and Valentine are talking about her illness. He discovers she is taking the medicine specifically for her grandfather. She says that it is bitter to her and she takes more and more everyday. Maximilien starts to worry and gets anxious because she starts seeing things and turning red.

Madame Danglers and Eugénie visit Valentine. She takes them up to her room to talk about Eugénies marriage with Prince Cavalcanti. They start to realize she seems sick and ill and start to get worried too.
"Are you ill Valentine? You have turned pale in the last few minutes."
"Yes you are very pale now."
"There is nothing to worry about, I have been this way the past few days now."

"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Valentine are you okay?"
"I an okay, do not worry"
Valentine leaves Madame Danglers and Eugénie early. She falls down steps and Maximilien has to carry her in. Nortier sees her and is scared and starts crying. They then take her to the doctors because they are very worried. Valentine tries to tell everyone she is okay.
