- Ladies and Gentlemen. Harrison Bergeron, age 14, has just escaped prison. Regard him as extremely dangerous and do not try to reason with him.

- This shows just how chaotic a society would be if everybody was made equal by law. If the world was indeed under the unceasing vigilance of a government agency, everyone would have to abide by the so called "laws of equality" no matter what. If an individual disobeys these laws, they can be sent to jail or even worse, just like the punishment for breaking laws we have now. However, these laws disregard personal privacy completely and control not just people's lives, but even their thoughts and minds as well. The people who make these laws act as the puppeteers while the individuals that make up the society are the puppets. This kind of society will inevitably lead to an uprising that will only cause greater chaos and eventual violence.
