- The narrator accidentally wakes up the old man while he sleeps and kills him by putting the bed on him.

- The key characters are introduced in this section of the tale. While the two people are conversing, the narrator begins to wonder about the man's eye.
- Falling Action
- During the commotion of the murder the neighbors heard. When the cops came the narrator convinced them that nothing was out of the ordinary.
- That was me i had a bad dream that made me scream, you can come in and search. My master is out of town.
- Can we come in sir?
- We had a noise complaint, your neighbours

- Here we see the narrator watch the old man waiting for the eye to open for seven days, and waiting for the perfect time to kill him.
- After guiding the cops into the room where the corpse was the narrator started hearing the beating heart. This caused the narrator to finally confess to the murder.
- Resolution
- Ok I admit! I killed him! He is buried underneath the floorboards right where I am standing.
- *vomits*
- I cant stand this anymore! The beating of his hideous heart
