- The witches, hand in hand, Travelers of the sea and land, Thus do go about, about, Thrice to thine and thrice to mine, And thrice again to make up nine. Peace, the spell is ready.
- A drum, a drumMacbeth doth come.
- The witches met up and checked in on each other, a drum sounds in the background. Macbeth and Banquo are on their way. Their spell is ready to be said.

- Stay, you imperfect speakers, tell me more: By Sinel’s death I know I am Thane of Glamis; But how of Cawdor? The Thane of Cawdor lives, a prosperous gentleman.
- All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter.
- All hail, Macbeth. Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis.
- The witches say their chants to Macbeth which are interpreted by him as fortunes. He asks them to explain more, but they vanish into thin air.
- All hail, Macbeth. Thane of Cawdor.

- Were such things here as we do speak about, Or have we eaten on the insane root That takes the mind prisoner?
- And Thane of Cawdor too. Went it not so?
- Your children shall be kings
- To the selfsame tune and words.
- Macbeth and Banquo discuss what just happened. They gather that according to the witches, Macbeth will stay Thane of Glamis, but will become Thane of Cawdor, as well as King. Banquo will not become any of these, but his children will.
- You shall be king
