- My concern is also why I believe we need a bill of rights. The constitution should specifiilay protect important freedoms, such as freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to a fair trial. Without these rights written down, the federal government could potentially abuse its power and take away peoples liberties
- I originally believed a Bill of Rights was unnecessary because the federal government can only use the powers given to it by the constitution. If the government is not given to it by the constitution. If the government is not given the power to violate a particular right, then it should not be able to do so. However, I understand that listing individual rights could pressure citizens and provide additional protection against government abuse
- I understand the need for an effective government, but I am concerned that a strong central government could become too powerful. The states should keep significant power because states governments are closer to the people. We fought against a powerful government during the revolution, so we should make sure our new government cannot become tyrannical
