- ...Then enzymes are like assembly lines! Enzymes are biological catalysts. They are proteins that have a specific function to aid in processing cellular metabolism. Because of each "worker's" properties, enzymatic proteins each have specific jobs within a living organism's cells.

- Enzymes can be like the machines used for manufacturing. Machines can help make production more efficient. Enzymes catalyze biochemical reactions by lowering the activation energy needed for the reaction to take place.

- At the enzyme's active site, a form of quality control takes place. Only certain substrates are able to fit through the active site, like a lock and key. In a factory, workers will pick out defective products so they can't continue to go through the assembly line.

- Not only do substrates have to fit in their unique enzyme counterpart, but they have to enter with a minimum rate of motion. In order for a factory to run, they have to work at a certain speed to be efficient and cost-effective. As substrates pass through their enzyme assembly line, they must do so in a timely manner!

- The activity rate of enzymes can be affected by temperature, pH, and substrate concentration. When these factors are abnormal, the enzyme can't work as intended. When a factory's conditions aren't right, the workers stop performing as well and even go on strike! Temperature and pH conditions affect reactions on a bell curve, while substrate concentration has a direct linear relationship to rate of enzyme-catalysed reaction until reaching peak efficiency.

- Sometimes in the body, enzymes become denatured, which means they lose their original shape and cannot work properly. This can be due to abnormal factors such as an extremely different pH or a high temperature. When workers are hurt on the job, they stop working and are often sent home because they can no longer operate efficiently.
