- Banquo and Fleance talk about the late night. Banquo expresses how he wishes not to sleep because he has had cursed thoughts while sleeping.
- At your kind'st leisure.
- If you would grant the time.
- If you shall cleave to my consent, when 'tis, It shall make honor for you.
- Macbeth enters...
- Go bid thy mistress, when my drink is ready, She strike upon the bell. Go thee to bed.
- Is this a dagger which I see before me, The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee.
- Macbeth enters and Banquo is surprised to see him still up. Macbeth gives Banquo a jewel.
- I go, and its done. The bell invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell that summons thee to heaven or to hell.
- Banquo continues and expresses he had a weird dream about the three witches. Macbeth and Banquo agree to discuss the witches prophesies at another time.
- Banquo and Fleance have left and Macbeth tells the servant to have Lady Macbeth get Macbeth's drink ready and ring a bell when it is done.
- The servant leaves and Macbeth sees a floating dagger with the handle pointed towards him. He reaches for it but can't grasp it. He begins to think that it is his obsessed mind playing tricks on him.
