When Malala was younger she wanted a magic pencil. She wanted one to help people by creating thing they needed and making them happy.
Sanju is so cool! He helps vulnerable people!
I know! He is so cool! I have such a big crush on him!
She truly wanted to help people, and this shows that she is truly selfless for wanting that.
Every night she would pray to God, hoping he would send here a magic pencil to help everyone and to make people happy.

God, please give me Sanju's pencil. I won't tell anyone. Just leave it in my cupboard. I will use it to make everyone happy.. I promise to me a devout Pashtun, please just give me the magic pencil.
She truly was selfless, all she wanted was for people to be happy (and for Sanju to be a real person cause she had a BIG crush on him, though she denied it to Safina).
Every night, right after she prayed, she would look in her drawer to see if the pencil was there...

Sadly, she was disappointed every time, never seeing a magic pencil appear in her drawer no matter how hard she prayed. But she still did it, because if it was possible for her to get it she would do everything in her power to. That makes her selfless because she wanted it to make everybody happy.
