- After Mare gets taken by Maven, she is found as his new pet. She gets a dog collar and is now in Maven's full control.  He broadcasted this event across Norta so everyone knows that he has the little lightning girl in his possession. 
- Chapter Sixteen
- When Nanny was found by the new blood with the ability to sense powers, she had to kill herself to keep the secrets of the Scarlet Guard. Cal was at fault for her death and Mare gets haunted throughout the story with her face. Nanny was one of Mare's best friends and Mare lost her in certain vain.
- Chapter Eighteen
- The High Houses of the court turned on each other and the crown. Their goal was to kill Maven and overthrow him as king. The 3 houses, Iral, Haven, and Laris were either dead or happened to escape from the horrible blood shed. 
- Chapter Twenty-Five
- When Maven and The Lakelands came together to end the war, the princess and Maven decided to get married. This leads to later events in the story of mass raucous. Plus, during this scene, Evangeline gets taken completely of her crown and will never see the throne again.
- As the Scarlet Guard comes to rescue Mare after the wedding, Mare sees another girl controlling lighting with blue hair and blue lightning. During the same time, Evangeline freed Mare and helped her escape from Maven. Cal and Mare had also fought together to kill Samson, another whisper in Elara's family.
- Cal takes Mare to meet the other New Bloods that process the power of lighting. Ella, Tyton, and Rafe all wield different colors of lighting. This is important because it shows Mare that she isn't the only New Blood with this source of power in her.
