- Hi! I'm doctor Diaz and today you will come along with me while I take a patient's blood pressure! I will also be explaining the importance of blood pressure and the other key features that play into a person's blood pressure.

- This is my patient Lana. First, I tell Lana to remove her jacket or roll up her sleeve so that I can correctly check her blood pressure. Then I velcro the cuff around Lana's bicep part of her arm and make sure it's not too tight nor too loose. I then tell her to sit very still while the arm cuff tightens so I can correctly check her blood pressure. Her blood pressure turns out to be 120/80 which is healthy!

- It is very important to check patients' blood pressure to make sure they are not at risk of heart disease or a stroke. We also check a patient's blood pressure to ensure that they are fit for surgeries that they want or need. Blood pressure helps us to insure what type of care a patient needs and determines whether or not the patient needs to be diagnosed with high blood pressure so it can get treated before further complications .
