- Well you see. I too have struggled with this question.
- When you grow up with so much death you cannot help but wonder how you matter. You do though.
- One time I even tried to kill myself. "When I was in Vienna, my life didn't matter to anyone..." However, I came to realize that "I was not made to die."
- I do.
- You see, because I did matter. I mattered to my family, to my friends. Although we did not matter to the regime in power, we mattered to one another. Do you see what I mean?
- Now wake up!
- Wake up! You have school in half an hour!
- I get it now!
- People do not exist by themselves. We form connections with one another and exert considerable influence.
- Why we matter may vary. Perhaps we believe someone created us who cares about us, such as in the Bible. Maybe our presence changes the lives of the people around us like Marjane does in Persepolis.
- At the core though, it is the relationships we build and nurture that give our lives meaning and thus make us matter.
- The end!
