I am King George. I want to make money off the colonies.
I will impose a law (The Navigation Act) that will force the colonists to have all imports and exports go through Britain
That way, I can impose tarriffs and taxes on the goods and products.
King George is busy and far away. I will just keep on trading with whomever I want.

I just lost lots of money in the Seven Years War. I will start enforcing the Navigation Acts in the colonies to make some money off them

The colonists are smuggling behind my back! I will raise taxes on imports and try smugglers in a special court (Townshend Act)

But we have no representation in Parliament. Taxation without representation is tyranny!

The colonists have dumped tea into Boston harbor and destroyed my property. I will punish them by cutting off all trade, even to Britain!

He has forbidden us to trade with any nation except England. Imagine!
That's not fair! We need to trade with other nations to grow our economy.
That is exactly what old George wants. He wants to weaken our economy so we are dependent on him.
I say, that is intolerable! We MUST break our bond with Britain.
