Akeer was nearly her old self again-still thin and weak but able to laugh as Nya sat on the floor next to her cot and played a clapping game with her.

Uncle reached into his bag. He took out a tamarind and handed it to Salva. Chewing on the sour juicy fruit made Salva feel a little better.

"Of course I will do that, Nephew."
Uncle did not answer right away. Then he said:
Salva felt a tiny spark of hope. With Uncle looking for his family, there was a chance they might all be together again one day.
In this chapter, Nya is giving support to Akeer by playing with her and trying to make her feel better.
In this chapter, Salva starts crying about crossing the desert so his uncle tries to make him feel better by giving him a tamarind.
In this chapter, Salva’s uncle makes Salva feel a little bit more hopeful about finding his family by supporting Salva’s idea and agreeing with him that he will look for his family when he goes back to Sudan.
