- Repetition of the word "blood" in the man's speech reminds Dong-ho of his grandmother. In life, his grandmother had been quiet and kind and her death carried these qualities. When she had died Dong-ho saw something seemingly fluttering up from her face like a bird escaping from her shuttered eyes above the oxygen mask.
