- "So basically, it's just inertia. According to Newton's first law of motion,a soccer ball will stay at rest unless a force of some sort moves it. Also itwill stay in motion unless a different force stops it. The force that usually moves the soccer ball is the player's kick. Also when you kick harder the more speed you give the ball. But another player can and will block its motion.The game would be very boring if the eleven players of one team and the eleven players of the opposing team stood on opposite sides of the field and the ball stayed at rest the whole entire game".
