- In the beginning of the story it was storming while the father and son were playing chess by the fireplace and the mother was knitting as they were waiting for a guess.
- Climax
- When Mr.White talks about the monkey's paw to the sergeant is, when the conflict began.The sergeant wants no parts of dealing with the paw,The sergeant throws it in the fireplace. Mr.White saves the paw. Mr.White is the protagonist and the paw is the antagonist.
- Falling Action
- After Mr.white retrieves the paw he refuses to give it up. Major warren warns him to make sensible wishes.
- Resolution
