- I've had enough of the name calling and bullying but I don't want to be seen as less than my peers or anything. I am just not going to go to school again!

- Johnny spends the next 24 hours locked in his room. His mother notices something is very odd...

- Johnny what's going on?Are you OK?
- No mom, actually I am not OK. Can you help me?

- Yes of course I can help.We can do several things to help.
- If it continues to get worse, we can always do more but let's start here.
- Things like going to your doctor and then seeing a psychiatrist will be the first and most important steps. Then you could do things like therapy.

- If you hadn't checked on me I would have just stayed in that mental state and never look for help.

- Of course Johnny, it was the least I could do as a parent. I want to see my child live a happy life not a miserable one.

- It is imperative for parents/ guardians to frequently check on their kids mental health and situations to offer help and assistance when needed. This can save and change lives with one simple check in. In this cartoon, Johnny's condition would have only gotten worse and worse if it wasn't for his mom consistently checking in. The mom checked in the first time but Johnny was dismissive the first time, but is important to note that the mom was persistent in checking in with him. Some kids won't say anything if they're asked only one time so it is important to be persistent when checking in to get real answers.
