- Harry Blackmun was born in Nashville, Illinois 1908. He had both parents, his mother Theo Reuter and father Corwin Blackmun. His father owned a small store. Blackmun attended elementary school and Sunday school as a child.

- Harry attended Harvard where he excelled at and graduated summa cum laude in Mathematics. Harry Blackmun died on March 4, 1999. But before law he originally desired to become a doctor but he rasoned that law school was a simpler war towards having a stable carer. He attended Harvard law with his childhood friend Warren Burger. Blackmun first gained a clerkship with Judge John B. Sanborn.

Blackmun was considered a liberal on social issues.He is best known for writing the majority opinion in Roe v. Wade (1973) that overturned most state abortion laws. Also was an architect of the Court's commercial speech doctrine.
