- Rhen Tellur (the main character) lives is a kingdom that is currently going through a disease with her father and mother. Her mother got the disease and she and her father are determined to find the cure.
- How are supposed to survive this?
- I guess we just try to blend in and make it through the tests.
- In this scene, Rhen is talking with her best friend and cousin, Seleni. The latest test cure has failed and Rhen has moved onto her last resort, the Labyrinth Trials. The Labyrinth Trials are series of trials that all boys have the choice of going through. The reward for winning is to get into a prestigious alchemy school. Girls are not allowed to enter the Trials

- Rhen and her cousin, Seleni entered the Labyrinth looking like boys. This marks the beginning of the 24 hour Labyrinth Trials.
