- Lewis and Clark were the first people to discover Kansas they spent 123 miles of their journey in Kansas. They describe Kansas as "a great beauty variety of game deer seemed plentiful and a abundance of wild raspberries."

- Zebulon was the first American to travel Kansas by land. He described Kansas as a desert. And he thought that land was worthless. Pikes description started a great debate..... could that land be cultivated????
