  • Boss, please. You've had me work overtime every day this week. I'm feeling pretty stressed and overworked.

  • Fine. You can take a 5 minute break. But it's coming out of your paycheck!

  • After work and school, Jose and his dad returned home
  • Ugh. What a horrible day at work, but my paycheck came in so hopefully it can redeem my day

  • Hey honey! How was work?
  • Hey dad!!

  • Oh no. Payday.
  • It was alright. The boss gave me a break today, but he said it would come out of my paycheck. It came in the mail today.

  • And that was it. Once every other week when payday would come, we would sit and wait for it to decide how the next few days would unfold. Payday was the true boss of my week and my family.
