I am John Dryden. I was the opposite of religion: during the Restoration, I always had an official opinion for everything.
Dryden always based his writings in the current events. For example, Absalom and Achitophel deals with the Monmouth Rebellion.

I, Shaftesbury, was the curst Achitophel.
Dryden can be considered the first English literary critic.
