- Greetings! I am the Spanish explorer, Alvarez de Pineda. I was the first person to map the gulf coast in 1519. This led to Spain's interest in Texas to become increased, and the gulf Coast to be further explored. Although, some of my men were arrested by Hernan Cortes as we were viewed as threats.

- Hello! I am the Spanish explorer Cabeza de Vaca. I was set off to explore Florida with my men as a part of the Narvaez expedition. We got lost and were forced to sail back to Mexico. Unfortunately, we got caught in a hurricane and shipwrecked on Galveston Island, losing some men. The local Karankawa tribes provided us with food and shelter, but I was treated as a servant and slave. Me and my men traveled across Texas for years until I finally arrived back at Mexico City in 1536.
