- Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany. A worldwide depression hit the already devastated Germany. Many German people started to listen to Hitler and the Nazi party.

- Hitler was elected Chancellor of Germany and dissolved the German legislature, the Reichstag. Hitler issued many anti-Jew laws. The Franks left Frankfurt and moved to Amsterdam.
