- Once, there was a beautiful goddess named Persephone. She was as beautiful as the flowers she tended, and she was kind. While Hades, the god/king of the underworld, was roaming on Earth, he saw Persephone picking flowers and instantly fell in love with her.
- SCENE 4
- So, he decided to abduct her and take her to the Underworld.There, Persephone was treated kindly and respectfully.
- SCENE 5
- Demeter, the goddess of agriculture and mother of Persephone, found out about how Hades abducted her daughter. Because she was sad and angry about her daughter's disappearance, she neglected her duties on Earth, resulting to drought.
- SCENE 6
- Zeus heard about this and decided to fix it himself. He made an agreement with Hades. Hades should return Persephone to Demeter after six months, and after another 6, Persephone would return to the underworld. This would go on for eternity.
- Hades informed Persephone about the agreement and willingly let her be with her mother. But gave her his last gift, a pomegranate. Persephone accepted this and ate it right away. There she became the queen of the Underworld, wife to Hades.
- They fulfilled the agreement, Persephone will stay with Demeter for 6 months and will return to Hades after. This cycle will continue forever. According to Greek Mythology this is how the seasons were created. Whenever the flowers are at full bloom it means that Persephone is with her mother, while when it is winter then it means she is with her husband.
