  • Sigmund Freud's theory revolved around certain coping mechanisms, like the regression mechanism displayed above. This way of coping is when a person copes with stress through displaying immature behaviors that helped one cope in the past.

  • I have noticed that you only feel loved when you are dating someone.
  • Alfred Adler played a big role in the birth order theory. He thought that the order in which a sibling was born had an impact on the child's personality. This was because he thought that each child was competing against their own inferiority. As pictured above, the eldest child feels the need to to be the "perfect child" and sets high expectations for themselves.

  • Carl Jung believed in a collective thought. he thought of these thoughts as a common bank of images and symbols that are shared across all cultures. This is represented in the image above because both are thinking the same thing despite being separate people.

  • Carl Rogers personality theory is based in the humanistic view. He believed that everyone is striving to be the best version of them self. He focused on the aspect of the person we are versus the person we ideally want to become.
  • Carl Rogers personality theory is based in the humanistic view. He believed that everyone is striving to be their "ideal self", however unattainable that may be. Furthermore, he thought that there were three conditions that facilitated growth: genuineness, acceptance, and empathy.

  • Albert Bandura theorized about the Spotlight Effect. He believed that those around you have constant attention focused on you. These fears are often due to the person's self-consciousness, like a stain on a shirt, that would have gone unnoticed with no attention brought to it.
